Considered a saint in India for her Mother Teresa-like acts of
compassion -- which include operating an 800-bed hospital for the
poor -- the 44-year-old is thought by her devotees to have a healing
touch provided by divine power. She greets all visitors, regardless
of their religious beliefs, sometimes into the wee hours of the
morning. "She's beyond normal human ego. She sees the divine
in people," said Linda Johnsen. -- San
Ramon Valley Times, 1998
"She teaches me how to love people and how to feel God and
how to meditate" said Lisa Sanchez. "I believe an embrace
by her is same as being embraced by Jesus" said Eva Krechko.
"Everyone comes for different reasons…some are just awakening
to the feeling. Some are deeply aware. I'm coming because I know
she is making tremendous changes in my whole entity" said Tibor
Krechko. -- San Ramon Herald, June

the Hindu faith, a guru who helps people find inner peace, bringing
them closer to God through her teachings and presence. She is a
religious leader and has been compared to Mother Teresa and Mohandas
K. Gandhi, who devoted their lives to the poor." -- Washington

"..a living saint" in her homeland….she has established
or inspired the organization of hospitals, schools and orphanages
there and soup kitchens in this country. As a child, Amma said "I
had direct experience with the suffering of others and visited neighboring
elderly, sick and starving. I always wanted to know the cause of
misery and thought if sorrow is a truth then there must be a cause
and a way out. I realized my purpose is to console, to personally
wipe away tears through selfless love, compassion and service."
-- New York Times, July 8, 1998
"…her (Amma's) spirituality goes beyond dogma or any
one set of beliefs…She's a living example of what she talks
about - compassion, love and self-realization." "Love
is the foundation of the world," Amma is fond of repeating.
"Where there is love, there is peace. Where there is selfishness,
there is misery and suffering." -- Boston
