The M. A. Center named after Mata Amritanandamayi who is lovingly
called Amma, is run entirely by volunteers and inspired by Amma's
holistic vision of unity and selflessness. The ashram strives
to put Amma's teachings into action. Since its inception in February
of 1989, the center has provided a welcoming community for spiritual
seekers to enjoy a contemplative and nurturing atmosphere amid
the beauty of its natural surroundings through retreats, volunteer
activities, classes, chanting, devotional singing, and meditation.
The M. A. Center embraces a diverse community that spans different
cultural and religious backgrounds and ages. We share in common
an appreciation of the great spiritual truths that transcend religious
affiliations, such as compassion, devotion, love and service.
Sustainable practices like organic gardening, recycling, waste
reduction, and more, are encouraged to increase awareness and
reverence for nature as inspired by Amma's teachings and to help
fulfill our responsibility as stewards for the well-being of the
earth. We warmly welcome your presence at M. A. Center and invite
you to participate in ongoing activities.

organic gardening. These activities enhance the children‚s appreciation
for the earth and its resources. The Bala Kendra program is
a regular spiritual education program held for children ages
4 to 12, twice a month plus also special field trips, festival
celebrations, and game days. The Bala Kendra program tries to
give children an understanding of spiritual principles and shows
them how to bring these teachings into their daily lives. The
M.A. Center also hosts annual retreats for children and teens.
During Amma‚s tours, children are offered many different opportunities
for learning and entertainment.
- Amrita Karma Yoga Program: Have you ever wondered what
it would be like to live at a spiritual center. Through the
Amrita Karma Yoga Program, this opportunity is now available
to you. Participants in this program stay at the M.A. Center
in San Ramon, performing selfless service projects for our beloved
Amma. Karma Yogis participate in the Ashram's daily spiritual
routine and classes, and have the opportunity for guidance from
