Haiti Relief Efforts

responded to the terrible Haiti tragedy by bringing her unique brand of
care to the victims of the earthquake in Haiti.

Chaitanya, having just returned from his second visit to the island
nation, reports that a four-story house has been rented in Laboulle, a
suburb in the hills outside of Port Au Prince, for the express
purpose of establishing an orphanage there.
Support for
this endeavor will come from Embracing the World, the charitable arm of
Amma’s organization, in conjunction with MA Center’s Health Care
Charities, Inc., and the Amma Foundation of Canada. Applications
for the required permits are being filed with the Haitian government,
and propose to open the orphanage with twenty-five children initially.
To date,
Embracing the World has shipped a container with pallets of medical
supplies to Haiti within two weeks after the earthquake. It was
received by Partners in Health, an organization the has been working in
Haiti for the last twenty years. The list of supplies included assorted
medications, surgical equipment and OR set-up supplies, feeding and
drainage tubes, assorted wound care supplies, diagnostic supplies,
syringes, needles, blankets and sheets, drapes, tents, sleeping bags,
face masks, obstetric and infant care supplies, wheel chairs, crutches,
braces, splints, protein powders, saline solution, disinfectants, and
the list goes on. A second container of supplies is now being assembled
and will ship as soon as possible.
